Staying in Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon) without spending a lot of money is possible. Vietnam itself is very cheap, but in Ho Chi Minh the costs are somewhat higher if we compare them with other cities such as Hue, Da Nang or Hanoi.

1. Dong Khoi (District 1), the best area to stay in Ho Chi Minh City


Dong Khoi is the most famous street in Ho Chi Minh City. It is located in District 1, the center of the city. Staying on this street and its surroundings is a good option. Although any accommodation within this district has a good location. To move around the center of Ho Chi Minh you must walk or take a taxi. Remember to get into metered taxis.


The prices are quite cheap. You can find 4-star hotels with swimming pools for 40 euros per night in a double room. Although the prices vary depending on the location, the services, etc… There are 3-star hotels between 20 and 35 euros per night. Double and hostels for 5 euros per night.

District 2, a good option if you want to stay in a quiet area of ​​Ho Chi Minh


Also very central, near district 1, you have the option of staying in district 2. It is a much less chaotic area, without so much traffic going around 24 hours a day.

The main advantage of this district is that you will be only 6 kilometers from the center, but in some accommodations you will have the feeling of being in a paradisiacal place due to its tranquility, many even have garden space, beautiful terraces with swimming pools, creating an oasis in the center .


Walking you will be about 20 minutes from downtown. Although you have taxis for little money that will bring you nothing closer to district 1. The hotels in this area are much more luxurious and much more expensive. Although they are not exaggerated prices.

District 3, modern accommodation options with very cheap prices


This area, about a 15-minute walk from the center, is a good option if you are looking for modern, category hotels with relatively cheap prices.

The Turtle Lake area and its surroundings is a very lively area at night. With bars and street food stalls.
