WHERE TO STAY IN GOTHENBURG: BEST AREAS AND HOTELS

1. Historic center, the best area to stay in Gothenburg

If you only have 1 night to stay in the city, my recommendation is that you stay in the historic center. Despite being the most expensive option, you save a lot in transfers and time. The historic center has great historical and cultural value and practically all the places of interest to see in Gothenburg are in this area.

Being the historic center, it is not a relatively cheap area, although you can find accommodation in a standard hotel from 140-150 euros per night in a room. Double. Although you can also find options in lower hostels or hotels for 20 or 30 euros less per night.

2. Majorna, a good option where to stay in Gothenburg and well connected:

It is an area away from the center, but very well connected, just 20 minutes by public transport. The price difference is quite considerable. You can find standard hotels from 75 euros per night in room. Double, so if you don't mind doing this journey by public transport, you save money.

There are seasons of the year, when this difference in money is not so much. Therefore, you will have to assess.

Majorna is a residential and quiet area and you have many accommodation options in hotels, apartments, hostels...

3. Heden, a very central option where to stay in Gothenburg

This area is very central and is known for being the place where the city's events take place. The Swedish Exhibition and Convention Center is located there, as well as the Scandinavium and Ullevi stadiums where there is always something going on: from concerts to sporting events.

For visitors, it is an interesting area because it is very close to the Liseberg amusement park and also to the Universeum, one of the best museums in Gothenburg. In general it is a quiet area and it is quite close to the historic center of Gothenburg. It will not take more than 10 minutes walking.

In this area, prices are around the same rates as in the historic center. You can find accommodation from 140-150 euros per night in rooms. Double. You have the advantage that there are big hotels and sometimes there are interesting offers.

Avenyn is the main avenue of the city, it is the cultural and entertainment center. If you like to party, have a variety of restaurants and music venues nearby, this is a good option where to stay in Gothenburg. Prices in a standard hotel range from 120-130 euros per night in rooms. Double. Although there are lower hostels and hotels for less than 100 euros per night. Double.
