1. Hotel zone, the most practical and safest area to stay in Cancun
The hotel zone is a large expanse built exclusively for tourists. Here are a large part of the resorts and hotels, beaches, restaurants, shops... everything to satisfy the traveler.
Although the beaches of Cancun are not as beautiful and quiet as the Riviera Maya, if your intention is to stay in Cancun you will also find beautiful beaches, especially in the hotel zone.
Regarding security, it is the safest area to sleep in Cancun. Due to the large presence of tourists, there is a lot of security and altercations rarely occur, apart from the clubs or nightlife.
Of course, in this area forget about living the authentic Mexico. Here everything is artificial and get used to the idea that you are in a large modern resort.
It is a large resort on the beach with beautiful pools. It is not exactly cheap, but since we had been doing a road trip through different places in the Yucatan peninsula and Quintana Roo, the stop in Cancun was the opportunity to indulge ourselves and relax for a few days. In addition, we had not booked a hotel, we were doing everything as we went along and when we arrived in Cancun there were hardly any cheap hotels left, so we stayed here.

Tip: If your intention is to stay in one of the cheapest hotels. reserve in time. As the date approaches, availability ends and the last rooms are always at a much higher price. There are always options with free cancellation.
2. Punta Cancun, a good option to stay in Cancun if you are looking for a party
Punta Cancun is located within the hotel zone. And it is the part of the hotel zone preferred by partygoers. On a night that we approached we saw several clubs and places to go out for a drink. Some of the most popular clubs are Coco Bongo or Hard Rock. Unfortunately, this is also where the biggest altercations take place, and above all related to drugs.
If you are thinking of traveling to Cancun with friends or as a couple, you may find this area attractive. Just stay away from altercations or problematic situations.
We went one night and we had a great time, we didn't see anything unusual, but it is true that there is almost always a "night conflict" in Cancun, it is in this area.
