If you are thinking of taking a tour of the country, you can dedicate a couple of days to Varadero. Or if you are thinking of traveling to Cuba to relax, there are several package options that I am going to tell you about below.
In this post I tell you about what to see in Varadero, accommodation options for all budgets and some travel tips.
WHAT TO SEE IN VARADERO, CUBA
How to get to Varadero from Havana
If you arrive at Havana airport you can book your transfer from here.
If you prefer, you can rent a car, which is what I recommend, so you can go on your own without depending on the taxis in Varadero, which are very expensive.
If you have doubts about how to move around Cuba, you can read my post: How to move around Cuba: Transportation.
What to see in Varadero
The best thing to do in Varadero is to enjoy rest, its beaches, strolling through its markets and doing all kinds of water activities. Its beaches are white sand and turquoise water, beautiful.
Personally, I can bear the tranquility and rest for a short time, so if you are one of my kind who needs cane, dedicate a couple of days to Varadero at the most.
In Varadero is the house of Alcapone. This beautiful Mediterranean-style mansion in stone and blue wood, is currently a restaurant. And formerly it was the house of Al Capone himself, the most famous gangster of the 20th century, who spent many years living in Cuba.
Activities to do in Varadero
In Varadero you will not lack activities to do. If you decide to travel to Cuba for a quiet trip, you can always add some activities to it to make the most of it. These are some of the activities:
Excursion to Cayo Blanco by catamaran; In addition to spending a day on a beautiful island, you can enjoy snorkeling, sunbathing and enjoying a catamaran ride. An activity for the whole family.
Excursion to Havana: If you are not going to include a few nights in Havana on your trip to Cuba, you should at least book an excursion to visit the capital.
Yumuri Valley: This is the most complete activity you can do in Varadero and I recommend it. The Yumuri Valley is beautiful and throughout the day you will not stop doing things. Tour in Chief, you drive!, boat ride on the Canimar river, caves, beach...
Excursion to Cardenas: Complement your trip with a more cultural activity, in this excursion you will learn about the origins of rum, tobacco and Cuban crafts, apart from knowing the city of Cardenas.
And although there are some other activities, among which is swimming with dolphins, I am not a fan of this type of activity. But you can see all the activities that take place in Varadero from here.
