What to see in unknown Lovina, Bali

Lovina is a popular seaside town in Bali, much less known by travellers. It is located in the north of the island, far from the most fashionable areas, such as Kuta, Canggu or Ubud.

Lovina is actually a group of small villages that, thanks to tourism, survive and continue to maintain this traditional style. Here the influx of tourists has nothing to do with the most popular areas. It is possible to enjoy this area with hardly any foreigners.

If you want to stay in Lovina, it is ideal if you are not a beginner in Bali and have already traveled several times. So you can enjoy the calmest Bali. If it is your first time in Bali you can come one day to get to know the area. The best way to get there is by motorcycle, although if you want you can do it by rental car, taxi or public transport.

In this area of Bali, in addition to relaxing, you can enjoy several things to do. So in this post I tell you about what things you can do.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO IN LOVINA

Apart from wandering around and getting to know the different villages, the main attraction in the area is dolphin watching. There is a colony of dolphins living on the outskirts of the coast and there are some boat trips, which without having to go far from the thing, you can already see the dolphins. You will be able to see them swimming, playing and jumping around your boat.

If you know me from other articles you will know that I do not encourage activities where animals are involved. I only recommend outings to dive and snorkel where the diver does not interfere with the life of the animal. With these dolphin outings there are several types, there are those where the boat only approaches the area where they live and once the engine stops they wait to see them. But there are other tours that are dedicated to doing a little "chase" behind them... I leave you the information so that you know the two versions that exist, you can always ask the agency with which you are going to hire it, if you feel like it do it.

The beaches here are much calmer, but although the waters are crystal clear, what is the coast and the beach is not as beautiful as in other areas of Bali. It is to taste and if you want to know which beaches in Bali to visit, I will explain it to you in another article. This is mainly because the sand here is black instead of white. but even so, I do like these beaches, so tell me about your experience when you come back.

Being able to enjoy such crystal clear waters, there are many options for snorkeling and diving. There are several schools that have daily outings.

South of Lovina is the Gitgit waterfall. This waterfall is 35 meters high and is the highest waterfall in Bali. In addition to being the highest, it is also one of the most beautiful and spectacular waterfalls on the island. The environment of lush green forests and the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall make it a special place. You can drive from Lovina yourself by scooter. Once you have arrived, you will walk a short distance to the waterfall. Try to arrive early in the morning, especially if you travel in high season, since it is a very photographed waterfall and you can find a queue for a long time, just to take the typical instagram photo. If you travel outside of high season, you may be able to enjoy this natural environment almost to yourself.

I take this opportunity to tell you that in Bali there are many impressive waterfalls, there are more than 50 waterfalls, I have visited them all and I will tell you about it in the post of the best waterfalls in Bali.

Another fun activity you can do from Lovina is to visit the Banjar hot springs. Bali has several places with hot springs, of which this is one of the best known. It is a public bath and particularly popular with locals. They believe that the water has a healing effect. Admission costs less than one euro.
