HOW TO VISIT PHANG NGA BAY, COMPLETE GUIDE!

How to get to Phang Nga Bay

Ao Phang Nga National Park is located in the province, between Phuket and Krabi.

To get to Phang Nga Bay, you can do it on your own or with an organized excursion (I'll tell you about the excursion options below).

If you decide to do it on your own, you can take a songthaews (shared taxis) from the center of the bay to Tha Dan and from there you can rent a boat that will take you to the park on a tour of about three hours that will cost you about 1,500 baht and will be for a maximum of 4 people.

You can also take one of the excursions that leave every day from the north of Phuket or from Krabi and that will take you to see the bay.

What to see and do in Phang Nga Bay

You will find tours that organize different excursions to see the main tourist attractions of the bay, the vast majority follow the same route, you will pass through rock formations, hidden lakes, small beaches and caves. They will give you free time to swim, snorkel and in some you can even kayak for a while.

On the excursion routes they make a stop at Khao Ping Gan, one of the rocks that appeared in the famous James Bond movie and which gives its name to some islands and also Ko Tapu, the most photographed rock in the area.

If your excursion does not include kayaking, you can hire a canoe in the park and visit some of the caves around these islands yourself. Taking a kayak you can discover hidden lakes, swamps, caves and islands that are only accessible by canoe.

James Bond Islands

It is the best known place, it gained this fame by appearing in the James Bond movie (The Man with the Golden Gun) and it is where all the excursions that visit the Bay stop.

Koh Panyee village

It is a floating town. It is built over the water on stilts and just behind it, attached to the town, is a giant rock.

Almost all excursions make a stop to eat in this town. Despite being a floating town, on pillars and wood, they have a school, medical consultation and various services that you would not expect. They give you time to walk between the houses and learn about their way of life. It's really interesting!

The most comfortable option is with an organized tour. They pick you up at your hotel in Phuket or Krabi, they include round trip transportation, boat, all the stops and you can enjoy this wonderful place.

You can see all the information about the excursions from these links, if you dare you can also manage the reservation. They allow cancellations until almost the day of the excursion. If you are going to travel in high season, it is a tour that usually sells out easily.

You can stay in Phang Nga Bay, to be able to enjoy this place a little more. I tell you how to do it.

Where to stay in Phang Nga Bay

There are few accommodation options, it is a national park and a protected area, so luckily the big resorts have not arrived here.

On the island of Koh Yao Noi, there are a few options.

All hotels on this island have a link to Phuket Island at an additional cost. Staying here will be one of the best experiences in Thailand. Or at least, for me it was. You will have a peace and tranquility that is no longer experienced in almost any part of the country. Beautiful beaches, nature everywhere... Of course, do not spend more than one or two nights.

VIP accommodation in Phang Nga Bay

After several days traveling through Thailand without spending much, we deserved a treat, and it was to spend a weekend at the Six Senses Yao Noi hotel. This complex of luxury villas is located on the island of Yao Noi, in Phang Nga Bay. Villas with great detail, private pool, paradisiacal beaches, activities, and spectacular views of the Bay. It is a complete paradise!

Average Accommodation in Phang Nga Bay

There is another option in the bay, but there is a very cool option, much cheaper than the previous option. The Jaiyen eco friedly resort hotel has small wooden villas raised from the ground, spacious and comfortable. The resort offers activities, has a pool, spa and private beach.
