The city of Kuala Lumpur has two airports. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) about 50 km away from the center and the second airport is the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) about 20 km from the main airport. This second option is usually used only on flights through Malaysia, flights from Singapore (sometimes they also arrive here) or some nearby destinations in Indonesia, Thailand...
In this article you will find a small quick guide on how to get from the airports to the center of the city of Kuala Lumpur.
HOW TO GO FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CENTER OF KUALA LUMPUR
1. By train, the most recommended option
The KLIA Express that will leave you directly at the KL Sentral station in half an hour. There are trains from 5 am to 12 pm and have a frequency of approximately 15 minutes. The ticket costs 35 ringgits approx. You can book the train ticket from here.
2. By bus, the cheapest option to go from the airport to the center of Kuala Lumpur
You can also go by bus, there are two bus companies, the Airport Coach and the Star Shuttle. The first will drop you off at KL Sentral while the second will drop you off at Kota Raya and Pudu Raya. The price of the ticket in both costs about 10 ringgits one way and they operate between 6 am and 12 pm. With the same frequency as the trains, every 15 minutes. You can book the bus ticket from here.
3. By taxi, a good option if you have a lot of luggage
The taxi is always a good option and very comfortable if you have a lot of luggage or if you prefer to be dropped off at the door of your hotel.
By taxi for about 80-100 ringgits approx. From the airport it is difficult to haggle, they have a fixed price, even so, before getting on when you ask for the price try to get a discount. If you are sure that you want a taxi, perhaps the best thing to do is to talk to your arrival accommodation and ask for a transfer service. Many have it and since it is not an airport taxi they are usually cheaper.
4, Private transfer service
Another option to get from either of the two airports to the door of your hotel is to do it with a previously contracted transfer. You manage it quickly and securely online, and you don't have to be contacting the hotel, loading suitcases on trains or buses... It's a somewhat more expensive option than the taxi, but the advantage is that you won't be "ripped off" with taximeters that count more etc. You can book the private transfer from the airport to the center of Kuala Lumpur from here.
