Depending on the type of trip you are thinking of doing or the time you have to visit both cities, you will be interested in one transport option or another.

3. Renting a car, a perfect alternative if you want to go from Montreal to Quebec at your own pace

Renting a car is the perfect option if you want to make stops along the way or if you intend to go on a road trip and visit more cities and destinations.

You should bear in mind that if your only intention is to visit Quebec or Montreal for a day, and return to the city of origin, it is not the most recommended option. Despite the fact that at first the rent + gasoline, they can cost the same price as going by train. Then you must bear in mind that any of these cities is expensive and the car parks in the center are not far behind.

A good option to organize a small road trip is to visit the natural surroundings of both cities. Highway 40 from Montreal to Quebec passes through beautiful natural surroundings and along the shores of Lac-Saint-Pierre.

5. Quebec City Day Trip from Montreal

If you have less time and can only dedicate one day to it, a good option is to book an excursion. You won't have to worry about anything, it includes transportation and a guide (with several language options).
