Both Cebu and Bohol are two of the essential islands to visit in the Philippines. Going from one island to another is relatively easy and cheap. They are neighboring islands and you can go by ferry or plane. In this mini-guide I explain how to go from Cebu to Bohol (and vice versa), where to book tickets and some recommendations to prepare your trip to the Philippines.
HOW TO GO FROM CEBU TO BOHOL, PHILIPPINES
To get to Bohol you will almost always have to arrive in Cebu, since although Bohol has an airport, almost all the flights that arrive to the island come from Cebu and few other islands. Bohol still lacks air connections to many of the more popular islands.
On the other hand, to get to Bohol by ferry you can do it from Cebu, from the island of Samar and from Camiguin.
Going by Ferry from Cebu to Bohol, the most common and cheapest alternative
Getting to Bohol from Cebu by ferry is really easy and cheap. Ferries depart from Cebu Ferry Terminal 1.
You have the Oceanjet company and the Supercat company. Both companies have ferries that run daily and have several services per day. In general, there are between 16 and 20 ferries a day, so if you book early, you can choose the schedule that best suits your itinerary.
The journey lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the price ranges from 10 to 15 euros per person and journey. There are also several classes, and sometimes for 2 or 3 euros more you will have a better chair.
Recommendations:
Book the ferry in advance online, so you don't run out of the time you want.
Choose a ferry with easy chairs. There are some simpler ferries with wooden benches that are not comfortable at all.
Take a thicker jacket, as the breeze is usually cold.
If you get dizzy, it's a good opportunity to take an anti-sickness, the tide is somewhat rough and although the trip is relatively short, if you get dizzy normally (like me) it becomes a bit unbearable if you don't take anything.
By plane, an alternative to go from Cabú to Bohol
Bohol has an airport on the island of Panglao, and you can reach Bohol by plane from Cebu and Manila. It also has some flights to other islands, but it really has few connections. We tried to get a flight from Bohol to Puerto Princesa and it was impossible.
If you are planning your trip to the Philippines, do not forget to take out travel medical insurance. Accidents happen, we get sick, and the Philippines has pretty bad sanitation. In the event that you need medical assistance, hospitalization or transfer to another country for medical assistance, if you do not have insurance, the cost can be very high. Travel insurance can cost you about 4 euros a day (with medical assistance, hospitalization, repatriation, legal advice, flight delays, lost luggage, etc...)
