New Delhi and Agra are two of the essential places to visit in Bharat (India). Both cities have many interesting places to visit, including the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world located in Agra or Humayun's Tomb, located in New Delhi. There are just over 200 kilometers between both cities and you have several options to get from one city to another. In this post I tell you about the best options to go from New Delhi to Agra or vice versa.
HOW TO GO FROM NEW DELHI TO AGRA, BHARAT (INDIA)
By train, a comfortable option to get from New Delhi to Agra
There are a couple of different trains that go from New Delhi to Agra, all from the Indian Railways company. These two types of trains are characterized simply by their comfortable seats and the speed of the journey.
The train most used by locals has more stops so it will take around 3 hours 15 minutes to arrive. Also, the armchairs and spaces are not so comfortable. The cost is around 4 euros per trip per person.
The high-speed train has fewer stops and you will get from one city to another in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. The cost of this option is around 12 euros per trip per person.
There are many daily departures of both options with different schedules. Afternoon or night trains are usually cheaper.
By bus, an alternative to go from New Delhi to Agra
Another alternative you have to get from one city to another is the bus. There are many daily departures, 24 hours a day. You have night and early morning buses. The journey lasts around 3 or 4 hours, although there are some who take a longer journey because they have some more stops. There are also sleeper buses, almost all of them with air conditioning. The prices are very uneven, something that surprised us quite a bit, since normally the bus is always the cheapest alternative. You can find a ticket from 4 euros per trip per person to 34 euros. It is advisable to plan the trip with some time in advance and book the routes first.
Car rental, an alternative if there are 4 of you
We do not rent a car in Bharat. We had read that the traffic in India was the worst and that it was quite inconvenient when you entered a city and tried to park. After touring India, I can tell you that I see it as feasible to move between cities by renting a car, as long as there are 3 or 4 of you. Taking into account that when you arrive in some cities, parking becomes a little complicated. Otherwise, I don't see many difficulties.
The current prices for renting a car in Bharat are around 35 euros per day, as you take more days, the cost per day decreases.
Excursion from New Delhi to Agra
If you want to see Agra in a single day, an alternative is to stay in New Delhi and take a tour. This way, you won't have to carry suitcases from here to there. It is a good option if you do not intend to stay in Agra. There are several options, I leave you the most recommended ones:
