In a day trip, the most comfortable option to go to the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin

If you only have the option of doing the visit in one day, the best and most comfortable option is to hire an excursion that will depart from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher. Go by rental car, the best option if you are going to make a route through Ireland

If you are thinking of making a route around Ireland or visiting some places in the country, renting a car is the best option. It will give you the freedom to go at your own pace, stop whenever you want, follow the less touristy route and get to know other places that are not visited on excursions.

If you are going to go from Dublin to the Cliffs directly, it will take about 3.15 hours by motorway.

How to get from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher by bus

If you want to go to the Cliffs of Moher on your own, but don't want to rent a car, the other option you have left is to do it by bus. This is a rare alternative, as there are no direct public transport routes to take you to the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin. You must change at Galway.

Bus to Galway + Bus to Ennis

You must first take the X20 bus from Dublin to Galway. Once there you must take the 350 bus to the entrance of the cliffs. In total, with the two buses it takes about 5 hours approx, as long as the transfers are short. Really, if you decide on this option, I would recommend you to take the first bus to Galway, visit the city and spend the night there, and the next day take the other bus to visit the Cliffs calmly.

You should keep in mind that it is not a very cheap option. The total round trip price with the two buses will cost you about 60 euros approx.
