Samana is one of the most beautiful areas of the Dominican Republic. Whether you want to take a trip to the country to enjoy its beaches and relax, or if you want to include Samaná in your itinerary, in this area you will not lack things to see and do.
In Samaná you will find a great diversity and cultural richness, as well as beautiful natural landscapes, beaches, savannahs, waterfalls and jungles, and a wide variety of activities to do that leave no one time to get bored.
Many of the houses are in the Anglo-Antillean style and were built at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Within the religious architecture, the Church Chapel of Lourdes, the Wesleyan Church, stands out. It is also worth visiting the Whale museum. Much of the gastronomy is based on the preparation of fish.
Regarding its festivities, the most popular religious celebrations are La Cosecha, and the Patron Saint festivities of the Virgen del Rosario. The carnivals occupy an important part of the culture, the same as the dances and music, highlighting jazz, gospels, spirituals, bambula, the foil goat, salve songs.

One of the most popular places in Samana is the lemon waterfall. Daily tours leave from all over the country to Samaná to see this place. Apart from the lemon waterfall, these tours include a stop in the town and free time in Cayo Levantado.
I did this excursion on my first trip to the country, and the trip from Punta Cana was very heavy for me, you lose a lot of time on the round trip. So if you stay in Samaná I highly recommend it, but if you stay in more distant areas like La Romana or Punta Cana, I recommend that you continue reading all the information I have about the Dominican Republic because there are spectacular places closer.
